This past weekend, Las Cruces celebrated the revival of the Cruces Cross. After two years of absence, the race finally became revived at a new location. Held at the Trailhead Dam, Gordon McDonald and Pablo Lopez created a challenging desert course that included deep sand pits and lose gravel passages. 40 racers from various locations of the state participated in the event and made it a great success.
One of our very best NMSU racers, Scott Powers, was accordingly motivated to do particularly well in the Aggie home game. Competing against strong University of Arizona riders he was able to break away early in the race and sustained his advantage until the finishing line. Scott concluded his collegiate season with his first win in a cyclocross race ever. Congratulations and way to go, Scotti!!!
We want to use this occasion to send out a very big THANK YOU to all supporters of this year’s Las Cruces Cross!!! Furthermore, we thank our great sponsors Zia Velo, Outdoor Adventures, and Optimum Health. A special thanks goes to Shane, Dave R., Kurt, Norm, Dave H., Laura, Estus, Pablo, Sergio, Fabian, Eloise, Ricky, Lola, Carol, Hayley, and all other supporters we forgot to mentioned here. Without the support of this amazing bike community the event wouldn’t been possible.
Until next year!!!
