Saturday was a hot day, but that did not stop NMSU mountain bikers from putting on a strong showing at the Horny Toad Hustle. In the Cat 2s, Lucas took second and Ryan just missed the podium at fourth. In the Cat 3s, Gorden and Sten took 1st and 2nd respectively.
It was awesome to see so many racers out for NMSU, and look forward to folks continuing in the future.
This weekend the collegiate mountain bike season kicks off with the Horny Toad Hustle. This race is NMSU’s home race, and several racers have shown up to compete, including several new riders. Stay tuned for pics and results.
Fall is mountain season. Get out those fat tires and hit the trails. It is going to be a short season so be ready! You can see the schedule here.

One-Day Beginners License: $10.00 dollars p/day. One-day Beginner Licenses are for beginners and riders that have never held a USAC annual license with a category higher than category 5 men road, track or cyclo-cross or category 5 women road, track or cyclo-cross.
One-Day License for former racers: $25.00 dollars. Any former member with a racing category excluded by the Beginner One-day Race license is eligible to purchase an Experienced One-day Race license once per year. These licenses are available online only @ usacycling.org

Saturday a.m. – Time Trial: The course for all racers is an out and back course on a Frontage Road for 20K (12 miles). Course is mostly flat and straight. Approximate start times are listed below. Saturday p.m. – Criterium: The course for all racers is a flat, square 1-mile circuit located close to the time trail course. Race lengths are listed below. Sunday – Road Race: (see maps) The 35 mile course starts in Hillsboro toward Lake Valley for 13 miles; returns to Hillsboro finishes with 9 miles up to Kingston. The 53 mile course starts in Hillsboro toward Lake Valley then continues for 24 miles; returns to Hillsboro and finishes with 9 miles up to Kingston.The 63 mile course starts in Hillsboro toward Lake Valley then continues for 29 miles; returns to Hillsboro and finishes with 9 miles up to Kingston.
